Twenty-Fifth Annual Mountain Treasures Festival;
Wednesday, July 4, 2007; Dungannon, Virginia

The Dungannon Development Commission, Inc., cordially invites you to come home to The Mountain Treasures Festival, Scott County’s largest Fourth of July celebration. This year’s 25th annual event is expected to be an extravagant experience; with the various family friendly oriented festival activities that appeal to young and old alike. The highlights of the event include a parade, arts and crafts, music, games, food vendors, car show, and a variety of entertainment. A spectacular fireworks display concludes the evening. Bring the whole family for a most enjoyable experience. This year the festival is designated by The Scott County 2007 Committee and the Scott County Chamber or Commerce as a Signature Event in honor of the Jamestown 2007 400th Anniversary of America's Birthday.

The DDC has commissioned a new festival logo in tribute of twenty-five years of the Mountain Treasures Festival. The Theme for this year’s festival is “The Silver Celebration” to pay homage to the 25 years of the event. Town Mayor, Phil Osborne has been slated as the 25th Grand Marshall of the Mountain Treasures Festival along with the past twenty-four previous grand marshals of the festival from 1982 to 2006. The commission will soon have tee-shirts for sale commemorating the silver celebration. Shirts will be available in two colors this year (Navy Blue or Red) with the festival logo on the front of the shirts printed in silver ink. Each shirt costs $10.00 and will be offered in sizes from small to XXX-Large. Shirts can be reserved now by contacting the commission at (276) 467-2306.

The commission is now taking entries for many of the family fun events that will be taking place on the day of the festival. Back by popular demand is the Mountain Treasures Festival Car Show. Entry forms can be downloaded at the commission web site at www.ddcinc.org/carshow.pdf and are also available at Scotty’s Market, the Dungannon Thrift Store, Mountain Treasures Thrift Store, the DDC’s Main Office and NAPA in Weber City.

Also the 2007 Miss 4th of July Theme Wear Pageant will take place at 1:00 p.m. at the DDC's Kiosk located on main street (Route 65). The Pageant has six age divisions. Participation gifts will be given to contestants who do not place. Miss 4th of July will receive a trophy, custom banner and a beautiful crown. 1st & 2nd runners up will be awarded in each division. The Mountain Treasures Festival will also include a Dog Show, Most Patriot Home Contest, the Sugar Cane Cloggers, The Mountain Music Makers will perform during this years’ festival.
