The 2004 festival was held on Saturday, July 3rd due to the 4th of July being on a Sunday. The theme for 2004's event was "A Salute To Veterans." The day was a great success and much fun was had by all who attended the events. The parade begin at 11:00 a.m. with the Grand Marshals for the parade as the Veterans. The VFW and American Legion participated in the event. The parade was an absolute crowd pleaser this year. There was several beautiful float entries with lots of other extras to go along with. The winners from the parade contest are as follows: Horse Awards: 1st place-Pam Stidham and 2nd place - Emily Bevins Float Awards: 1st place-Scott County Life Saving Crew and 2nd place-Kinley Studios Car Awards: 1st place-Greg Corder and 2nd place- Bill and Nancy Harr The DDC held the 2nd Annual Miss 4th of July Theme Wear Pageant at
the Kiosk at 1:00 p.m. the day of the festival. Many girls from birth
on up participated in the pageant. Contestants wore their choice of
casual patriotic attire and was judged on beauty as well as their overall
appearance. A queen and 2 runners up was chosen in each category. The
age divisions were as follows: Winners in the 2004 Miss 4th of July Theme Wear Pageant were as follows: Baby Miss Firecracker: Devin Stewart, 1st Runner-up: Madison Stacey and 2nd Runner-up: Miranda Pierson Wee Miss Patriotic: Summer Dockery, 1st Runner-up: Madison Ramey and 2nd Runner-up: Marisa Shupe Tiny Miss Independence: Toni Stone, 1st Runner-up: Nabila Gilmer-Hack and 2nd Runner-up: Anna Wilson Little Miss Red, White and Blue: Whitney Moore, 1st Runner-up: Tiana Dockery and 2nd Runner-up: Allyson Lee Miss Lady Liberty: Breana Dockery and Katherine LaMar 1st Runner-up: Kristen Kleiman Back by popular demand was the "Penny Princess" contest. An addition, for the 2004 year we added a "Penny Prince" category.The Penny Prince was Ernie "Ray" Finch and the runner up was Ethan Gillenwater. Penny Princess was awarded to Hannah Finch and the runner up in that division was Patricia Stebbins. The band for the street dance set up at the New Peoples
Bank The Lifesaving Crew had scheduled "Southern Highway"
for the entertainment. They playing from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Many
thanks to the Lifesaving Crew for always taking care of this portion
of the festivities for us. The Dungannon Development Commission, Inc. sold food at the Depot after the parade. Hot Dogs, Chips, Soup Beans, Slaw, Baked Potatoes, and Desserts were on the menu. Local entertainment performed at the Depot as welll.
