27th Annual Mountain Treasures Festival
Grand Marshal

At 86 years young, Anna Lee Kilgore is being honored as the 2009 Grand Marshal of the 27th Annual Mountain Treasures Festival.

Anna was born in 1922 to Jim and Molly Mann. One of six children: Arthue, Delmar, Elsie, Claire, and Rosa. Anne’s Father passed away in 1927 and one year later her mother passed away when Anna was just 6 years of age in 1928. After the passing of her parents Anna was raised by her siblings Arthue Mann, Elsie Mann Ramey and Rosa Mann Baldwin. 

At the age of 18 Anna went to Kingsport, Tennessee and worked several years in the cotton mills. In 1994 she went to Akron, Ohio and worked in the Defense Plant. Later she went to Florida and worked at McCrory’s five and dime store.

In 1955 Anna married Clyde Carr Kilgore of Dungannon; they build their house near Dungannon, VA in 1957.  They had one son, the late David Leon Kilgore

The Mountain Treasures Festival will be held in the Town of Dungannon on July 4th and is deemed Scott County’s Largest July 4th Celebration.
