DDC Participated
in the Allen Feinstein Foundation's
Matching Grant Program

The Dungannon Development Commission, Inc. participated in the Allen Feinstein Foundation’s matching grant program for it’s Food Bank during the months of March and April. All donations, whether monetary or non-perishable food items, was allowed for match by Mr. Feinstein’s funds. This foundation is anchored in Rhode Island, where Mr. Feinstein, a multi-millionaire resides, but is available for anti-hunger programs all over the United States. Each year Mr. Feinstein gives away $1 million to fight hunger in the US. The 2008 campaign was the 3rd year that the DDC had participated in the grant program. All Scott County community organizations, churches, etc. was urged to conduct a food drive or special fund-raiser to be held during the months of March and/or April to be given to the Food Bank at DDC. The DDC Food Bank serves residents from all areas of Scott County, with a total of 65 homes being served. These families receive a parcel of food once each month which consists of a variety of canned goods, frozen items, drinks and other items. DDC also gives emergency help, as supply allows, to residents who find themselves in a "hard place".

Please consider making a donation to this worthwhile cause. All donations are tax deductible and may be dropped off at the DDC office (344 Phoenix Street in Dungannon) or at either the Dungannon Thrift Store (19007 Veterans Memorial Hwy in Dungannon) or at Mountain Treasures Thrift Store (372 West Jackson Street in Gate City, across from Presley’s Market, beside Farm Bureau Insurance) during regular business hours. If your group holds a food drive and you do not have transportation, contact the main office at (276)467-2306 and your donation may be picked up.

Students from Fort Blackmore Primary donated over 200 cans of food to the Dungannon Development Commission, Inc. Food Bank Project Pictured to the right are the top five students that brought in canned goods for the food drive. The Staff and Board of Dungannon Development Commission, Inc. sincerley appreciated the donation from the school. The students donation was matched as the Dungannon Development Commission, Inc. participated in the Allen Feinstein Foundation matching program.
